Foi lançado o single “Don’t Make Me Wait”, a nova canção de Sting e Shaggy de sabor caribenho que ficará disponível em todas as plataformas digitais esta quinta-feira, 25 de janeiro. Este é o primeiro single retirado do álbum conjunto que será lançado a 20 de abril e que é influenciado pela música do Caribe, intitulado “44/876”, refletindo a admiração que ambos têm pela Jamaica – a sua música, o espírito do seu povo e a energia da sua cultura.
Sting e Shaggy conheceram-se através de Martin Kierszenbaum, que é o atual manager de Sting e trabalhou com Shaggy como executivo A&R. Depois de Sting ter ouvido um novo tema no qual Shaggy estava a trabalhar, ambos decidiram ir juntos para o estúdio. Inicialmente, o plano era gravar “Don’t Make Me Wait”, mas os ritmos, as letras e as melodias surgiram naturalmente e daí nasceram mais canções compostas pelos dois.
Sting e Shaggy compuseram e tocaram juntos durante algumas semanas em Nova Iorque, criando uma música que cruza os ritmos do Caribe – em estilos tradicionais e modernos – com um estilo de composição pop e uma energia rock.
Em estúdio, os músicos estiveram acompanhados de músicos e compositores da Jamaica e de Nova Iorque, incluindo Robbie Shakespeare, Dwayne “iLLwayno” Shippy,Shane Hoosong, Machine Gun Funk, Patexx, Tyrantula, bem como o guitarrista de longa data de Sting, Dominc Miller. As sessões foram produzidas por Sting International, que já tinha trabalhado com Shaggy em êxitos mundiais como “Boombastic” e “It Wasn’t Me”, e contaram com produção executiva de Martin Kierszenbaum.
Recentemente, o duo estreou “Don’t Make Me Wait” perante 20 mil pessoas, em Kingston, na Jamaica, no concerto de beneficência Shaggy and Friends. As receitas reverteram para o Bustamante Hospital for Children. Os músicos rodaram ainda um vídeo no centro da cidade, vídeo esse realizado por Gil Green e que em breve será revelado.
